Soundcard to AMP/DAC Difference ?

I sold my Asus Phoebus as it wasn't any better than the onboard audio on the Maximus VII Formula but I was wondering, How much better will the quality be on a proper dedicated external DAC/AMP like the Aune T1 MK2 using Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro's ? Would it actually be worth the outlay ?

I've got a Maximus VI Formula and a set of DT 770's, going from the on board to a Schiit Mangi & Modi 2 Uber stack the difference was noticeable straight away. I use the dac on usb as my only soundcard and it work's great.

Granted the Schiit stack is slightly more £ than the dac/amp you've mentioned but it's probably worth the difference as for the money not much out there that can match it including more expensive solutions.

I borrowed a work colleagues DT990's 250ohm and it was a very nice combo.
