Have been on a mission lately to get my PC completely silent. In a small room and any vibration/noise starts bugging me after very long.

Have been trying to avoid splashing out on a new case, seeing what I could do myself first.

So far, just replacing/removing couple of fans has helped somewhat, as well as using insulation tape to "pad" potential vibration points, such as case sides, and so far its a lot quieter... so much so that the GT is now unbearably loud at any fan setting over stock.

Was just wondering about the soundproof padding things from Akasa. Do they work? I can get a set for less than £10, so was thinking it might be worth trying, though would be nice to hear from someone with experience possibly...

try replacing your Graphics cooler with a Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 VGA Cooler, im not sure is a fan needed

some say the performance between the 2 isnt worth the extra cash, i would just change the cooler and see if its possible to OC the graphics card

As I can currently get one for less than £200 incl delivery, it really won't make much diff in price once I sell my GT.

The pc is standing on a carpet. And I have got some new rubber feet to put on bottom of case, even though am sure they will do nothing.

The hard drives rack uses rubber grommets(?) to help reduce vibration, and apart from the actual noise of the hard drives, don't think they are contributing too much to noise.

The PC is very quiet now, but would still like to know if anyone has any experience with the Akasa Paxmate or something similar, and if so, how well it worked.

Its crap !

Silent fans @ 5v - case, cpu, psu
Passive GPU
Well mounted HDDs
Non resonating panels

Thats all it takes

Squash balls cut in half work as very good vibration dampers for case feet. Also if your looking for case wall dampening try looking in a craft shop. I found some very dense foam thats about 3mm think and sticky on one side that worked very well. 89p per A3 size sheet.

Paxmate is rubbish as it has very little mass. Acoustipac however is very good, and will effectively kill any resonance in case panels as it's a composite with a heavy rubber layer behind the foam.
