Looking to soundproof my bus, which is a '96 Transit 2.5TD.

Been looking out for soundproofing kits and wanted to ask if anybody had any recommendations as to what works best?

Aim is to soundproof the engine-side of the engine bay, the doors, and the floor of the cab under the driver.

Have seen the Dynamat extreme, anybody ever tried that?

Dynamat Extreme is good (and can be used in engine bays) but costs an absolute fortune.

I used second skin when I was into stereos and deadening. Look here:

Second Skin luxury liner (pro if you have the funds) is very good for the interior. It quietened down my Fiesta by a great deal, improving the build quality ;) no end.

I tried Aquaseal and Marley Sealant Tape and other flashing products from B&Q & Homebase, but although they're cheap, they really just have a mass loading effect rather than acoustic noise-reduction properties. All depends on how much you want to spend.

Yeah, Dynamat Extreme for 9 x 18" x 32" sheets is £140 inc. P&P. I think that would do the entirety of what I need it to do.

Glad you think the stuff is good. A guy off another forum did his entire van with it, cost £400 , but it gave good results.

Second skin Pro vs Dynamat Extreme. What you reckon?

I used second skin for my car only worked out to be something like £50 for both sets of doors, probably get it a bit cheaper if buying in bulk.

Any more for comparisons of dynamat vs second skin?

Gonna probably order the dynamat extreme and do my engine bay in my week off next week. Fingers crossed it'll be worth the money and effort.
