I received my newly built PC today and I have a issue with a screeching/crackling sound when I plug my headphones in.

So far I have tried a number of things including:
Trying both front and rear jacks
I tried 3 sets of headphones
Ive tried plugging the power lead in different mains sockets
I tried different power leads
Tried reinstalling sound drivers

Has yet no luck.

My setup is:

BitFenix Neos ATX Tower White/Red

AMD Piledriver FX-6 Six Core 6300 Black Edition 3.50GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor - Retail

TeamGroup Elite Black 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11
1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (TPKD38G1600HC11DC01)

Seagate 1TB 7200RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache HDD - OEM (ST1000DM003)

Asus GeForce GTX 970 DirectCU II OC Strix 4096MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Gigabyte 970A-DS3P AMD 970A (Socket AM3+) DDR3 Motherboard

SuperFlower FX 450W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply - Black.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Are the motherboard bios up to date? Where are you getting the realtek soundcard drivers from, mobo disk? Try mobo manufacturer website they may have newer drivers on the site.

So far ive tried updating the sound driver and bios, i even tried reinstalling windows but to no avail.
Im running out of ideas now

it might be a faulty audio port. if you uninstal the drivers, restart the machine and then run windows update. see if it installs the hardware as it should detect it and then try it.

use ccleaner and clean all traces of realtek drivers from the registry too.
