Souness Sacked

Going down could not be the best thing surely.

Look at leeds, still in crippling debts and only just making a challenge for the premiership properly.

If Newcastle come down, that would destroy the club.

I don't think Roeder will make much of a difference either, but as Shearer now has a bigger role, I think he might have a good chance of getting the team playing with some passion.

the club has a deep down black heart and is full of arrogance, i think would change the club for the better.

bout time too =D
maybe we can get someone who actually has a clue about managing

Shouldn't have sacked Bobby Robson when they did....

Where did he finish with them in three seasons? 6th, 4th and 5th?

I want Sir Bobby back simple as - hes quality and talented, mourinho has learnt off robson! the advantage mourninho has is his manner though of pure confidence and arrogance, sir bobby is just too nice, thats the only difference!
And they keep bloody saying the squad is too small, we just spend bloody 60M, now im absolutly gutted we got rid of some of our other players now because souness is a tit and argues with everyone.

Robson was getting too old though. He did well at the start with Newcastle, but he was making some odd decisions towards the end, and just looked well past his best. He might have been a great manager, but he's not anymore imo. :)

Sven would actually be a pretty good choice I reckon. I'm not sure if he'll want it mind, but I think he could do a decent job at club level.

Well all i can say is Harry Redknapp kept West Ham reguarly hitting around the top ten, then he got sacked/resigned over money from Rio's transfer, then we got Glenn Roeder, oh and relegated!! Doesn't bode well for Newcastle.

Not big sam.
Not Mclaren , Bruce , Curbishly , Pearce , Jewell or whoever is flavour of the month in the premier league.

Long term it has to be a proven European class manager with bags of experience and a network of friends and scouts throughout world football - al la Mourihno and Wenger.

Once again our chairmans timing is impeccible.
Ottmar Hitzfeld is currently out of work and would fit the bill nicely.

The temporary appointment of Shearer and Roeder doesn't fill me with much optomism either , Shearer has never managed and due to crap replacements and injuries will be forced to pick himself.
While I admired the "Roeder Shuffle" from the Leazes terracing as a kid during the 80's having him in charge is a little concerning - I *think* he has been relegated with 3 clubs.
Best not make it 4 Glenn , eh?

That is the worst statement you have ever made on this forum , from a pool of generally knowlegable and intersting posts.

Mods! - take him out!! :p

That's fair enough, but his contract was ending the season he was sacked, yet he was sacked in September. Just seemed strange at the time, that's all.

More than anything, a new manager will bring a breath of fresh air to Newcastle, and give them an air of optimism. They're not a bad bunch of players, but they are a bad team - at the moment.

Not really. Look at West Ham.
Going down was the best thing to happen to us, it made us restructure our finances and clear out the deadwood. Now we've got an excellent young manager, a progressive squad and a board that now has learn by it's mistakes.

also its on sky sports, due to qualifications, shearer and roeder can only manage the club for 12 weeks

I'm sure they'll get that extended, in a similar manner as Southampton did a couple of seasons ago.

Just need Shearer to sign up for a couple of management course etc to get his qualification if that's what he wants to do.

Roeder is fully certified as a manager, he was at Watford, then came to relegate us at West Ham, the only person who can't be a manager is Shearer, he's not qualified.
