Hi there

I've managed to source some X2 4400 and X2 4800 Socket 939 CPU's with the larger amount of cache.
These are officially now end of life and were not included in AMD Price drops.

However we've managed to source some old stock cheap, so anybody who still wants one of the better performing X2's for socket 939 get buying.

If you see either the X2 4400 Retail or X2 4800 Retail cheaper elsewhere let me know (email: andy.gibson@overclockers.co.uk) and I will see what I can do.

AMD X2 4400 Retail @ £179.95 +VAT
AMD X2 4800 Retail @ £239.95 +VAT

Compared to their old sell prices those are now a lot cheaper! :)

There's no chance of me getting hyped up and buying a new CPU now, but how hard is it going to be to get a decent socket 939 X2 perhaps 6 months to a year down the line?

Well look at hard it is to get a high-end Socket A or Socket 754 processors.......

Which 939 X2s are End Of Life'd? How long are the remaining ones going to be in production/on sale?

Thanks :)

Everything on socket 939 has reached end of life, so that means all of the 939 X2s and Athlon64s.

AM2 is the new kid on the block. :)

edit - sorry it was an oem cpu, my bad

The CPU itself is the same. The only difference is: no fancy packaging, shorter warranty, no heatsink.

Indeedy, i wasnt saying the cpu was different, i had found it cheaper at a competitor - but then realised it was an oem cpu and not retail - hence not cheaper as retail chips are more expensive!

so i edited to say this

Not entirely true, OEM San Diego 3700+ are failed E6 Dual Core Toledo's with one core disabled while the retail ones are E4 cores that clock better but it could be that X2 ones are all the same.

True, but he was talking about the X2 4400+/4800+ :)

thanks gibbo for the news,

im still enjoying my old 4400 but im tempted to go for the 4800.

Not much for some but this would equal an extra 400-600mhz when rendering in Cinema 4d and thats priceless.

:D

Wheres my credit card!!!!!!

ohhh?

I can play fear perfectly thanks, Not used by cinema 4d 9.6 for rendering.

Actually i got the figures wrong, if i use the "standard asus" overclocking feature then the cores would jump to 2.6 (each) which would mean that i would get an extra 800mhz of power.

(Comparing my x2 4400 that is which i never or rarely overclock)

I'll never get that waiting for a quad system for the time being.

cheers,

Why not just overclock the 4400 a bit?

well its been rendering almost 24/7 since i bought it and a new cpu might be in order. Nothing but praises , just liked the idea of a 4800 at that price.

WOW

Received my 64 X2 Dual Core 4800+ (939) from Overclockers yesterday; WOW, everything is just so much quicker I use a lot of Office applications and no more hourglass here; if you have a 939 socket and are debating to get one go for it as I couldn’t find a better price anywhere, the processor comes with a nice CPU cooler haven’t used it as I have a Artic Cooler 64.

We done Overclockers you have surpassed yourself on this occasion!! ;) ;) ;)
