Southern Blood

Well, Newport was once named the most violent town in the UK, so most places seem quite tame in comparison.

You always get trouble in Swansea, usually from the roiders who go there for a night out.

Scariest place I have ever been was Catford in London. Walking home at about 2am with friend (who lives in Catford) through a deserted park, it felt threatening even then.

Of course the next morning he told me that it was nicknamed "stabby park"... haven't been back since.

OP, no idea where you parked or where you were trying to go but I lived in Manchester centre for 6 years and never once saw "roaming gangs" etc. In fact the worst that ever happened was I got a parking ticket....

From personal experience.

1. Brixton late at night (also by the fact I almost got blown up by a nail bomb once while I was there - the one in the bin on the main street many years ago when I was a kid) along with recent visits as an adult.

2. Winson Green/Spark-brook/Hansworth area in Birmingham.

haha that wasn't Foster Park by any chance? I used to live in Catford and had family there and have to say its not a place to be walking by yourself at night. Saying that though, I didn't see any trouble when walking back around there from a night out (not in catford, i have standards :p). Downham is a dive too. In fact that whole area is pretty sketchy

I went to uni in Middlesbrough. No idea what it's like now, 8 years on, but back then it was an absolute total scummy heap. My first day there I drove up with my folks and upon getting out of the car at the halls of residence I stepped onto not one but two broken syringes (luckily didn't do any damage, just crunched under the souls of the shoes) and my 2nd/3rd year house and most of my neighbours' "gardens" were just rubbish dumps with walls covered with broken glass and barbed wire to keep the skallies out. Not that it helped. They frequently jumped people's walls using cutters and nicked bikes and all sorts. Chav scum left right and centre, hookers, fights in quiet resi streets every night, not safe after about... oh, 6AM>5:59AM. Horrible place. The summers were cold and the winters were just horrendous. Windy as hell, that bitter kind of wind you only get up north. So many break-ins on my street which was considered quite a nice quiet street even though there were several known-to-the-police drug dealing houses on it. Kids setting off fireworks out of people's exhaust pipes, throwing fireworks through letterboxes, regular fights all over town.

Man... I learned a lot about life in those 3 years. Toughened me up big time. I went there a soft southern lad with long hair and came back with a no 1 shaved head, bloody knuckles and a heart-full of bitterness.

Lovely place!

Hehe, reminds me of growing up in a dodgy part of Birmingham.

The people down here in Hampshire are all softies tbh.

Very possibly, all I know is it is also called Stabby park lol.

It was very well maintained mind, it just felt.. threatening. Maybe it was because my friend suddenly sped up and stopped talking heh

Parked up in a Cardiff car park only to notice a mob of skin heads in another car giving me the look. Thought i was in real trouble when they got out only to realise with a sense of relief they were all a bunch of harry Krishnas. Lol, when they were in the car you couldn't see their robes.

Rofl Cardiff is tame anyway even in an england rugby shirt xD

Love Cardiff my favourite city that I've lived in.
