Southport stabbings

There is so much speculation going around on social media right now, and none of it is confirmed, so I think people should tread carefully until the official information comes out.

One thing I think the police should do - is get the information out quickly to stop speculation, otherwise people will just go with the narrative that suits them.

Agree with the guy on Sky news right now, with regard to the police getting in control of this from the beginning - to prevent the sort of situation we had with Nicola Bulley, where if people don't get any information - we'll get TikTok'ers, headed down there to try and find/make-up, their own answers.

Interesting thread on twitter right now, posted by @thales4c:

To be fair, the media shouldn't focus on the defendant, and any reporting should really focus on the victims and areas affected in my opinion.

If there's anything to learn from the US and their plague of school shootings, focusing on the killer - releasing his name, details, story message - normally results in more attacks, because it gives him a platform.

It creates an environment, where if you 'go out with a bang' your story will be published, and other people out there with the same intentions realise that they too - will be immortalised by the media, if they follow in his footsteps.

Just to save any confusion about that as I know Twitter is awash with him ‘moving from Rwanda when he was six’ ^

We started off with him apparently being an asylum seeker living in a hotel...

It sucks how people just make stuff up in the heat of the moment, for nothing other than shock value/clicks and ad-revenue..

I think people just need to calm down a bit and take a breath.

https://enlightenkidsyoga.com/ - looks like the place that was attacked.

I imagine the attacker has deliberately attacked such a place, to cause maximum carnage and shock, implying there were elements of planning that went into it.

I imagine a defence of diminishing responsibility will be difficult for the defendant.

If the police have confirmed he was born in Cardiff, presumably any talk of him being an immigrant is just fake news?

I don't see what else the police can say - they've confirmed it in an official statement.

From one of the relatives of the 9 year old Portuguese girl who was murdered :(

"Princess Alice....In this moment of such pain....It hurts the soul....it hurts the body....it hurts the mind....

"A lump in the throat....you were just an innocent child.....a happy girl....smiling....who had a bright life ahead of her....Which a despicable being took from you...without mercy or pity...without any reason....

"Look after your parents....Who suffer.....Who are desolate...destroyed....look after them....Fly high our little star....I love you."

Heart-wrenching.

It'll be interesting to know what the motive was, hopefully the police can get access to his electronic devices to find out what he reading/researching, or whether he was in contact with others - or whether it was a true, random, lone-wolf attack.

Have the police said this or is this just made up twitx stuff again.

Yeah this is winding me up, the second anything happens - it's being reported that it's a muslim or migrant along with aggrevating circumstances - none of which comes from any official source.

It wouldn't suprise me if foreign bots are making a lot of this stuff up, just to feed the flames.
