here's the original statement that's quoted, they've changed what she actually said, so really shouldn't use quotation marks.
It might very well be he was born in Cardiff, but then make it clear the Police don't help themselves, causing speculation.

Who am I white knighting here? My comment was about the fools immediately jumping on the "its an illegal/Muslim/brown person I don't like" and not the person who carried out the heinous act. They are desperate to be outraged but not by what they should be outraged by, that innocent people have had their lives changed forever.
The statement was updated to remove the ambiguity. So yes, the police have made it clear and people are choosing to believe something on twitter instead.

I'm more interested in seeing the motivation here than the ethnicity, or whatever, of the suspect.
It will be interesting to see whether the initial "not terrorism related" statement was... optimistic.
I'm guessing it may be some time before we get clarity on that.

There is no way that this ‘person’ has existed in our society without someone thinking he was a wrong un.
The level of depravity required to do what he did just defies my comprehension.
So imagine stabbing up an adult, then doing the same over and over.
Most couldn’t even get that far with imagination so let’s now imagine a class of kids in the equation,
How do you raise a child that is willing to do this sort of thing?
Serious questions need to be asked, this is looking like some major radicalisation going on here.

Not really, originally means originally anyway so that is already quite clear, then they probably felt they had to use even simpler words for the twitter brigade just to ram it home. Also the page with the statement on their website says 'updated' in bold colour at the top of the statement. The only ones fueling wild speculation are people like you.

If you simply mean he’s defending immigrants because ‘being an immigrant or a descendant of one doesn’t necessarily or foreseeably mean you are going to go on a horrific stab rampage’ then, yes, because that’s correct.
The right questions are:
- what were the social circumstances of this person?
- what was, if anything, influencing him?
- was this person / family known to social services / police? If yes, what was being done about it?
- if this is a complete mystery person and out of nowhere then were there tell tale signs of concern from doctors records etc?
- is there a resourcing issue on any of the above matters?
This is whats so puzzling to me, most terror attacks are carried out by people born in the country and because of cultural differences get caught up in the dogma of there own culture, many don't even see themselves as British despite being born here. And yet some here are hanging on the 'born here' bit as if it disproves something. It doesn't

IIRC the police in their official statements try to only put out what they are fairly certain of.
For some reason people can't seem to understand that an official police statement won't normally make guesses, and that it takes more time for the police to check something is likely true than some rando on twitter making stuff up.

The poster who was hanging onto it has now rightly been thread banned. I can only speak for myself, but I only challenged him to disprove his claim that he was born in Rwanda, nothing else.
There's enough misinformation flying around on Twitter if you want it, it shouldn't infect this thread too.
I'm making the point that people in power and/or influence keep miminizing horrific criminal acts on children.
