Currently using the Corsiar SP2500's which have been great to me but thinking about investing in a DAC to improve the sound.

Liking the look of the Soundblaster X3 but apologisies for the stupid question but the connections are confusing me.

Currently the speakers go into the Subwoofer which is then connected to the motherboards audio by a AUX cable. How would the connections work with a DAC ?? Obviously the speakers still go into the Subwoofer and the usb from the DAC goes into the back of the PC.How do you then connect the subwoofer/amp to the DAC ?? Do I plug the AUX into the DAC instead and if so which port, the X3 has a Line in and several line outs ?? Any other recommendations as far as the DAC goes ??

Apologies for the really basic question.

For the Creative X3, you would use the 3.5mm 'Front' Line out on the back of the X3, then use a 3.5mm to 2 x Phono cable to connect this to the L and R phono connectors on the SP2500 main unit..

Your Creative X3 would then be connected via USB to your PC..

On the SP2500, the amps and everything are housed in the Sub, it has a 3.5mm 'aux' input and the normal L/R phono inputs.. I would definitely use the Phono inputs, but at a push you could use a 3.5mm stereo to 3.5mm stereo cable to connect the X3's 'Front Line out' to the SP2500's, I just found the Aux connection never sounded as good for some reason..

I was looing into this for the OP and was wondering how would the volume control work?, would you use the one on the SP2500 or the X3 or doe the X3 have a fixed line output?

Thanks for the help guys.So AUX into the "Front" line out is the way to go,so how would the volume control work like the previous post ??

I think the X3 will control the volume as it adjusts windows volume as you turn the x3’s volume control... but if not you would either plug the same cable in to the front of the X3 (headphone), or use the volume control of the SP2500 to adjust volume independently if the X3;s line outs are not variable..

If all you'll need is line output for stereo and you're not going to get any surround set, Creative has Sound BlasterX G6 for £70 in B-stock.
That would have higher quality audio components/more cabable headphone out than SB X3.
