SP2500 Crackling on Idle

For anyone who has this speaker set, does the left satellite make a short buzz/cracking for <1 second when moving from idle to active mode (and vice versa), this also occurs when muting and un-muting the speakers.

This gets very annoying as the left satellite buzzes (1 second) when speakers don't output sound for only 5 seconds, they then buzz again when sound is outputted again. It feels like the speakers are switching from idle and active mode to save power which leads to the short crackle in the left satellite.

It seems the buzzing is caused from some energy saving technique but the speakers are never fully off, they continue outputting a small amount of white noise when idle (when ear is close up the speaker).

So my question is: is this how they mean't to perform or are they faulty?
i.e. should i get a refund or a replacement.

Solved issue, my laptop was power saving the audio port. :/

For a five year old laptop, never noticed this feature/issue before :s

My suggestion would be get a external USB DAC and use that instead of the crappy onboard audio and its 3.5mm jack. At the moment your SP2500 is seriously wasted on it!

It will breath new life into your SP2500 and sound miles better!
