I was remembering my time with starlancer and how I really enjoyed it, so I installed darkstar one as I dont have starlancer.

I'm really enjoying it, I miss games like this. I was just wondering if there any other space flight games available? I dont want something like X3, something with lots of action and fast paced.

Are freelancer and darkstar one really my only options?

If you've never played Freespace 2 then grab it from GoG.com & then install the latest version of Freespace Open to bring it more up to date :

This is a fairly old video, but should still give you an idea what to expect.

Plus the Inferno & Blue Planet mods for FS2 are well worth playing as well.

Another one from a few years back was Tachyon: the Fringe.

As you've noticed though it's quite hard to get this sort of game these days. They're too sim-like/complicated for a lot of today's gamers, and even LucasArts who used to pioneer the genre with the likes of X-Wing, Tie Fighter and X-Wing Alliance seem to have lost interest.

Indie teams are working on games like these, but obviously for every one of those that does actually make it to a releasable state, there are 100 that don't for whatever reason :(

A crying shame that this wasn't finished. Also from Freespace 2 SCP. A very good mod. The demo is still kicking about and isn't too bad...just a shame we don't have the full game. A sadly negleted genre these days. :(

Star Wars: Starfighter is available for PC. It works well with joysticks and even pads, is quite a blast as well. I enjoyed it.
