Space game recommendation please

Hi all,

I fancy picking up a 'space' themed game. In the past I've been a big fan of Homeworld 1 & 2 and spent far too much time with EVE :p

I would setup EVE again and pick up where I left off. However I don't want anything subscription based. Time to game is random at best so I'd rather the money not be wasted. So a one off purchase please!

OS X compatible would be an advantage, but not necessary (I have windows VMs)

Doesn't have to be strategy, RPG would be fine. Am open to suggestions :)

The new Starpoint Gemini Warlords looks good.

On the cheap, Ascent - The Space Game, if eve was you're bag.
 
Maybe not the genre you want but lifeless planet is a good 6 hour game and the jet pack gameplay is fun.

Homeworld was remastered and a big patch just released and is half off at gog or steam atm, up to you. Personally i dont like the merging of the two games or their balance systems etc but your choice if u go for it.

Theres a space game on steam called Sol Trader which looks like it might be interesting tho looks like a long game to go through.
