My embargo has lifted, the game goes into open beta today, here is a video showing off the tutorial and first campaign mission.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to send them my way and I will do my best to answer them :)

It looks pretty good, will keep an eye on it.

*** No Ultrawide 21:9 support - Dev's say they would love to implement it 'but' they are too busy polishing the product... lazy excuse... glad i didn't waste my dosh ***

Looks like a remake of the game from the 90s. I REALLY enjoyed that. Quite whether it's stood the test of time is another matter altogether.

Hah yea I remember that, used to play it. You would open an outer door and the air would vent out.

But we'll see... Don't have my hopes up. I dunno why they don't just make a computer game copy of tabletop 40k. Not like DOW, like proper turn based and follow the same rules.

Eat into model sales?

I don't think it would negatively impact model sales that much, the appeal of that for some people is about painting your own figures etc.

They have done similar in the past, e.g. Space Crusade was basically the same as the board game, turn based, dice rolls etc. I suspect WH40K would be quite complex to make into a game because it doesn't actually have a board. That means the number of permutations of possible moves are many many orders of magnitude higher, I guess you'd have to break down the environment into small fractions of an inch so a computer could make sense of it. So the battlefield would basically be made up over a few million tiny squares. I can imagine it being quite annoying at times because the computer would have an advantage in that it is the arbiter of LOS, so could position pieces optimally for cover purposes, meanwhile you think you've lined it up perfectly but computer says no :)
