Behind you... Naked!
Right, I have been on the steam forums and the fixes DONT always work.

I will admit that I have only got ONE copy of the game, and its installed on my PC and everythign is hunky dory

I have also thrown it onto my second PC. Again, since I can only run it on the one PC aat any one time, this is perfectly legal for me to do so.

It works on that PC too!

Now, because I want to see how it runs on my kids PCs, I have tried to install it on them, but it wont run?

I get an AppID error?

Various cures seem to be to reinstall Steam, or the game, and I have done both in many various ways, but it has done nothing to help at all.

I have even gone through a full reinstall of Windows on all PCs just to see any results.

One even more alternative error is that I have 2 systems upstairs that are very very close to being the exact same specs..

Gigabyte GA-MA78G-DS3 / X4-9550 / 4GB / 8800GTS / Xonar D2 / Win7-64
Gigabyte GA-MA78G-S2H / X2-5600 / 4GB / 8800GS / XFI / Win7-64

Now, these are very close and yet I can get it workign on the top one, the DS3 but not on the bottom one?

WTF?

I have even started with a fully fresh install of Windows, Drivers, and teh order I do everything and it still wont work.

The SoundCards are different so just to help out, I have chucked an Audigy into both and it makes no difference.

As one final straw, I swapped over the Hard Disks and guess what? The setup that didnt work now works and the setup that did, now doesnt.

That to me say that its the PC?

The PCs that I have it running on are the DS3 as I mentioned, the DS4+Q6600, the X58+930 and teh PCs it will not go on are the S2H, the Intel DS3 P35C, 945 and 965 all fail ( The one up there is AMD and it works ) and the EVGA680SLI - they all fail.

So, what the hell could I possibly be missing?

Anyone care to elaborate?

From the whole swapping-hard-disks thing, it sounds like it's having a peek at hardware configurations and limiting your installs accordingly. Which isn't very nice, but what can you do?

Yes, but the only real major diff really would be the CPU. Dual core over Quad, but then the Dual core is 2.9Ghz and that Quad is only 2.2.

8800GTS vs 8800GS is also close

Admittedly, the bulk of the others are X1800XT / 7900GTX and they are a tad below par, but they should be enough to play it ( kind of )
