Space marine - the game

I know this is an incredibly geeky viewpoint, but i don't like the fact that the space marines seem like untouchable uber soldiers. I remember an old trailer where one took on three Chaos marines and won without effort, in the warhammer universe they are evenly matched and so even a 1 on 1 should be a real struggle. I love the idea but i am also a big fan of the universe that was created for warhammer 40,000 and would like to see it stay as true to its source material as possible.

Considering one of the main mottos of the Space Marines is 'Strength through unity' a game based around a lone space marine kicking alien ass just seems a bit of a... departure.

I agree, power armoured Marines of any variety are quite evenly matched.
A Deathwatch marine could operate alone, but they are a bit different.

Looks good. Though why is a tactical marine using a thunder hammer?
ahh they could be honour guard

Oh aye, thats the thing though, there are plenty of types of marine that could go it alone and survive such as a deathwatch or a captain. But for some reason they decided to choose the bog standard marine who, when matched up against any of the enemies in that video, would either come out even or lose. I guess they just wanted to have a chainsword, which i don't blame them for a second for doing, i mean, it's a chainsword!

[EDIT] Yeah i did wonder about the thunder hammer too, i thought only captains/terminators were able to hold them due to having uber armour?... i'm definitely over analysing this :p

I guess they could be honour guard, but they don't have the right armour again.

:D yea Streeteh

As a follower of the Greater Good I can't help wanting to shoot marines from a long way away with a big rifle ;)

I guess it'll be a console game, maybe PC in the future. It's a 3rd person game if I remember right from the old vid.

When the explosion goes off at the end of the trailer, did anyone else notice the Titan that is the background?

Why can't they make a warhammer 40k mmo, the rts series are superb for the casual player since the fall of red alert.
I could see a mmo warhamer 40k doing excedinly well.
This looks ok, hopefully its better than their last attempt at a fps game.

Vigil games are allegedly working on a 40K MMO. They have released no games so far but are responsible for Darksiders, which is looking interesting.
