Really enjoying SoaSE demo at the moment. a lot to take in, but it seems like a good mix of the strategy.
Two points though - firstly its difficult to know what to use against what ships. Some are abvious (fighters against bombers, bombers against capital ships, etc) but others like LRM frigates? There strengths and weaknesses aren't entirely obvious.
The AI never fight each other. I jumped into a system early on, to be presented with a two groups of "opposing" AI in the system. They weren't fighting, but they proceeded to turn all their guns onto me. Stupid. And no, I hadn't set them both in the same team, I kept getting "missions" off them asking me to destroy their opponents.
I was on "Easy" for both, yet 10-15mins in, one of the AI had some big-ass Destroyer that whopped anything I threw at it. He just sat in one system, kicking my ass as I tried to warp in.
Other than that, its good fun.
