I've just opened my Yahoo account to find tonnes of bounced back emails that I'd spammed out today or so it seemed.

My sent folder is empty of anything random just my usual email.

Did they come from my account or was it spoofed and just used my address? Anyone shed any light?

Eset online and defender haven't found anything yet.

They probably spoofed your address. Switch to gmail if you want a better anti-spam experience.

They probably spoofed your address.

That's unlikely as I had a yahoo account hacked where spam was sent to every e-mail address I'd received a message from and then did a bit of housekeeping by clearing out the whole sent box which really hacked me off as I had a ton of job application e-mails in there (that's how I knew it was a hack and not a the e-mail address that was spoofed).

The best thing to do is to change the password for that e-mail account and never use the same password for different sites where you use the same e-mail address (plus you should use a complex password as most passwords would be easy to get with a little time).

Can't see how gmail would stop them spoofing your email address, can you expand on that? does it include SPF by default?

A simple filter can be used to re-direct bounced emails to trash. I have a throwaway Yahoo mail account and the amount of spam that gets through is shocking.
