I'm currently looking at getting:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-128-PC For my new rig.. however im trying to figure out if it is worth the HUGE price tag and if sticking with Nvidia will prove better for me in the long run. Perhaps getting a 295 Series? Although the extreme power of this ATI is rather sexy if i might add.

Basically im just looking for some guidance and if forking out such a large amount of cash will really benefit me in gaming over a 295 from nvidia.

Thanks

Mat:p

If cash isn't an issue the 5970 is undoubtedly a very good choice.
Although a gtx295 won't be anywhere near as good once ATI finally fix their drivers..

keep in mind these can be overclocked to the equivelent of 2 5870's if you have decent cooling.

if your wanting to run dx11 and get roughly 20%+ faster fps in games and you have the cash, id say wait for fermi.

£500+ is a mansion amount of cash for a GC even if the card is destroying the competition, if fermi comes out slightly cheeper and better then youl be in wth territory.
if you have a good GC now then id wait.

Yup if you want to spend those pennies get an ATI 5 series card. Nvidia won't have a new card until March 2010 at the earliest and most if not all of their top end cards are having production stopped.

R.I.P - BFG in euroland

Dont hold your breath on Fermi. I remember waiting out for 5800Ultra, and look where that got me :D There aren't any promises on the gaming side of this new card ,not even from Nvidia, that they are going to dominate Hemlock. This card will be another Nvidia funded experiment to try their hand at computing (show off in front of Intel) and judging by Fermi white paper, this is not likely to happen anyway.
