Hi,

i am looking for a breakoutcable for the above soundcard. My old one is defective.
As the card itself is still in good shape i do not want to replace the whole card.

Picture is property of guru3d

Any ideas where to get one like this ?

Thanks a lot

It's a proprietary cable only used with the Xonar Xense.

Only place you'll get one is either someone selling one that is no longer required, or maybe from Asus. I wouldn't hold your breath in getting any help from them though, given their reputation for not giving a **** when it comes to customer support.

That's the problem when cables that are specific to the product are used, like the one in question; if they get lost or break, it's very hard to replace them.

Thanks for your reply,

i already contacted Asus, and their reply was that they do not stock spareparts :( . Maybe someone has a broken card and a cable to share ?

Sadly, not a surprise that Asus didn't want to know.

I remember someone else asking where to get one in another thread not long ago. I just searched and found the thread.

Maybe your best hope would to be reply to that thread and quote Disco P. He should see that you've replied to his post and maybe he would be willing to let you have his Xense cable, if he still has it and doesn't need it, just as he was going with the OP of that thread.

I've seen HDMI to component cable so maybe they do DVI component cable like yours. Or you could get DVI to HDMI converter and then get an HDMI component cable.

Maybe you cant convert DVI to HDMI and only the other way around. CAn find 3 RCA cables from DVI but not 4. And from a soundcard and not video.......hmmm. What do you use that cable for?

It's for a Xonar Xense sound card. Asus' way of adding 7.1 speaker output to a Xonar Essence sound card without the need for the add on 7.1 board.

Thankfully they haven't used that type of connection on any of their other sound cards since...

The problem with anything that connects to it and then possibly to something else, is the required pins being utilised. As that breakout cable is specific to the Xense, the pins used are not universal with various adaptor cables that could be connected to a DVI connector. If they don't follow the same pin layout that Asus have, it won't work.

Easiest thing to do in this instance would be to buy a bare male DVI plug that can be soldered and some inline jack sockets. Use a multi-meter to find out which pins carry what signals and make one from scratch. Logically, there should be left +, right + and ground for each output. (except sub/centre which would be sub+, centre + and ground) The ground might be common across all of the outputs.

You'd need a fully populated DVI-I plug (search dvi-i male solder connector) and you'd need to remove two of the pins as asus have kindly blanked them out on their version of the connector to prevent an actual DVI plug being connected to it without modification.
