Spark Tablet- Pre-order

I'm interested but I don't have that kind of money to drop on a toy at the moment - I will be interested to see if it gets picked up over android on some tablets.

Is it a base linux kernel with standard userspace and a kde widget based desktop? if so I would imagine it would be a lot easier to design and implement with not having to jump through all the google hoops.
 
Apps can run on the bare metal,

It is not running a virtual layer like Java on Andorid, hopefull it will mean like for like performance and/or battery life will be better. There is also already loads of Linux apps that can be made to work on this. (ok they are mostly desktop apps).

The Hardware is not locked down so you can get rid of the os and put something else on if you want. I doubt its going to change the world but its a linux based tablet that grass roots community driven.
