I was wondering if anyone else here has tried Sparrow. It's a new e-mail program for mac. I was previously using Mail but have since switched. I have only been using it for a few days but I have to say I am liking the simplicity and layout of the app.

Currently it only works with gmail account but soon they are looking to support all IMAP accounts.

Been using it for a month or so now (switched from Mail), I like it. Like you say it's nice and simple, the clean interface and Gmail functionality works for me.

Does the full version of Sparrow offer anything over the 'Lite' version apart from accessing multiple accounts and removing the adverts? I'm giving the free version a whirl and... well, it's not just what I thought it might be.

I was rather hoping I could get Sparrow to start up at login and nestle itself in the Menu bar to show me if I've got any new mail, but instead it seems to insist on opening my inbox in a window on the desktop. And the new mail notification doesn't seem to do anything apart from make a noise and change the colour of the Menu icon to blue.

Is there any way it will work like the Gmail notifier and flash up a little preview of the email you've just received?

I'm not familiar with the Gmail notifier however Sparrow integrates with Growl which will show a notification with some basic email information when you get a new message - I'm not sure if that's enabled by default though but it's easy to check/set in the apps preferences.

Very odd. Growl was set in the options, but it wasn't playing ball for some reason. So a quick round of 'switch it off and then on again' and all is well with Sparrow.

Thanks for the pointers, uchuff.
