Ive got a very simple new Website(written in Notepad) and i want to spawn a window that fits the image within it, with a minimal border.

Can someone give an idea how to do it?

Ive also got a chunk of my website that refuses to slot in right(take a look its at the top right corner). If anyone can help me fix that too, that would be great :)

Click on the link in my sig to see my website so far.

Have a look here for how to create popup windows with JavaScript.

I'm not sure what you mean about the top right hand corner, looks ok to me

However i would say that i like the design, but have you checked it fits ok on a monitor running 800x600? It looks awfully big on my screen and i'm running 1280x1024. Might be worth scaling it down a bit?

EDIT: I just looked at your code and cried a little :( Not only are you using tables but you have an awful lot of basic errors (missing >'s etc.). Why not download SciTE, a text editor which will help you spot those errors with nice colours for your code.

Yes it is quite large, it was sort of meant to be a good size, but i could try a smaller version at 800x600 instead of 1024x768. I dont know what the most common screen rez used is, you see.

Theres a long horizontal grey strip(3-4 pixels high) at the top right of the folder that shouldnt be there. The piece of graphic thats supposed to fill that space is a few pixels to high.

Whether it works or not, tables are designed to hold tabular data- i.e. data that is supposed to be seen in a table like a survey result for example, not website layouts. Seriously, have a look over on w3schools at XHTML and CSS, it's really easy to pick up and is so much better :)

Its general practice in web design to cater for users at the smallest resolution - this is 800x600 although it is moving towards 1024x768. See this thread for some people's comments. To design for 800x600 i think the max width the design should be is ~750, i generally stick at 725. Augmented says 744px though, so i'd listen to him :p

It's great that your teaching yourself, however to be blunt (and i know someone else will say it if i dont), you've taught yourself bad practice. Tables should not be used for layouts, your content should be separated using <div>'s and you should style it using CSS. I'm absolutely positive that searching these forums and Google will tell you [a] why you should learn this way and how to go about doing it. It will be worth it in the long run. :)

I was listening :P

I would like to learn more and i will look into it, but bare in mind that i barely have time to do the paintings that are featured, let alone learn and write HTML. :)
