Hi all,

Anyone had any experience of Spax RSX coilovers of Spax suspension in general? I'd like to fit a set to my 318.

Thanks,

Nick

I had a set of Spax (PSX) adjustable dampers and springs on my last Saxo. A little on the harsh side for a daily driver, but couldn't complain for what they cost!

Ah cool - the only downsides I can see to them are that they are harsh on the road. Quality is meant to be pretty good on them and otherwise fine for the track. I found some for a pretty good price.

The ride shouldn't be too bad - just a little crashy. I can't imagine they'll absorb huge bumps as well as a set of Billies etc.

On a track car though, they should be more than good enough!

There is lots of point, what did you fit yours to, wasn't it a Nova?

I had done an engine swap and was trying to keep huge horse power on the ground, so coilovers were essential as I needed adjustable height and damping. that it then.

but a 318? whats the point?

Because the suspension at the moment is knackered.

Thought about Gaz shocks? The two top end kits available for the MX5 is P5 shocks and then there is Gaz shocks. The person who you want to talk to about Gaz shocks is the guy who runs the website I have linked to below. If I needed suspension I would goto him without a second thought. :) The overall opinion for the MX5 is P5 is the better road shock and Gaz is the better race shock. He will setup to whatever arb setup you would like and will really customise it to completely what you want.

I have Spax PSX on the Manta, they are very firm but not too crashy. Had them on a Golf GTI Mk2 in the past and they were the same on that.

I have been looking into this recently and found the Koni setups quite favourable, although for track use the Gaz setups are meant to be pretty good, i don't know about top drawer, but on a track the best bang for the buck.

A guy on the ZS forums recently went for Gaz over Spax (can't remember why) but he said he was very pleased. Although the Spax are meant to offer very good value for money.

unhappy people are more likely to speak up, especially if they have spend several hundred pounds.

The opinion seems to be that Gaz dampers are mainly for the track.
