SPD in gigabyte bios

my spd is set to 2.0

and says

800 920

can i go for a higher spd such as 2.50 which will give me 1150, or perhaps even higher ?

the reason i ask is i think my memory is too slow for my cpu as i overclocked from 2.8 to 3.2 and this thread shows how my games suffer :

I would'nt recommend doing that. I very much doubt your comp will even post at those sorts of speeds.

You are pretty limited as to your options now. You've done the right thing in setting your Mem multiplyer to x2. But thats it, thats all you can do. to get near 1150mhz I'm going to guess that you will need some PC8500 RAM, and some quality stuff at that, the Ballistix maybe. I dont know if even that will reach 1150mhz tho.

Do-not set your multiplyer to 2.5 with your cpu at 3.2ghz, you may kill the ram.

I also see a similar effect in 3d mark. If I clock my chip at 3.0ghz its bench's a lot better than at 3.2ghz. I have just learned to live with it, and leave everything at 3.0. It runs everything just fine there anyway.
