SPDIF digital sound from an Acer Aspire One?

Is this possible? I'd really like to be able to use a DAC with the AAO, and I was wondering if the green 3.5mm jack is a combo one similar to a macbook pro?

I dont believe it'll work like that, you'd probably have to look at a USB DAC like the Beresford 7520, or the Cambridge Audio DACMagic

a cheaper alternative is the hotusb1, or if you want a better larger, desktop DAC then the Zero DAC.

That's the thing, I already have a DAC that I'd like to use, but it's only got spdif/optical input.

Is there a USB device which gives optical or coax spdif out and is small and cheap? I guess I may be better off making a post over in sound city...

Or has anyone managed to hack the AAO and solder some wires to the point before the DAC in the AAO?
