Got my pc set up on my TV via HDMI, and the sound is going through my 5.1 samsung blu ray player via the optical cable from my soundblaster z card.

The audio is out of sync on some games, particularly Deus Ex Human Revolution.
When I fire a weapon, you see it fire and then hear the sound a few ms later. Any ideas how I can improve this ?
There is an audio sync setting on the blu ray player, although this makes no difference when I set it as.

Thanks.

Is there a slight delay? I've got a similar setup to you, and I had an echo, which I suppose was the best way to describe it. Turns out both the TV speakers AND my 5.1 speakers were on, the TV was pulling audio through the HDMI. If you go through your TV menu options, you should be able turn off your TV's internal speakers, that solved the problem for me :)

Thanks for the reply, there is a significant delay, to give an example, when firing a weapon the sound of the weapon starts and stops before the animation of the weapon firing starts!

Some games are fine, Bioshock Infinate for example, and Tomb Raider, Deus Ex HR seems to be the game where its most noticiable, which is a shame as a 100th playthrough, on the big screen was the reason I moved my PC in the first place! :D

I am guessing its due to the sound traveling along the optical cable faster than the display via HDMI, although am no expert. I will play around with a few settings later on to see if I can improve it.

Thanks.

Do you get the delays when your PC is connected to a monitor rather than the TV? After a quick Google I've noticed some people having the same problem with Deus Ex HR.

In the mean time perhaps you could run your audio to the TV through the HDMI, and then from the TV to the Blu-ray player via optical?

Also what are the rest of your specs?

Hi, I have tried aux out directly into the back of the blu ray player and it eliminated all sound delay in DXHR, although 5.1 would not work this way so pretty pointless lol, but definitely points the finger at the optical out. Ive never experienced sound delays in the game with my 2.1 system via the stereo connector, just when I plug it into the blu ray player via optical.

I could use sound via hdmi although this would mean I wouldnt be able to use my soundcard, and would mean I would need to run NVIDIA sound, unless I am missing something here ?

Specs are...

i7 3770
16GB RAM
Soundblaster Z
NVIDIA GTX 780

Many Thanks,

Ive configured HD Audio in NVIDIA Control Panel and using sound over HDMI, works well with 5.1 with no delay! So ill stick with this way, thanks very much for your help.

Aye that's what I was meaning, glad it worked! Shame it's bypassing your sound card now, but the delay would drive me mad too.

Im cool with that anyway, as Ill be setting up a desk across the room for my monitor, mouse and keyboard for FPS games so will use the soundcard for my 2.1 system.

Nice one again, if it wasnt for you I would have never had tried the hdmi thing lol :)
