I'm considering getting some new PC speakers. Which out of these two would be best, mostly for music?

Both choices are similar output, ie. around 8w RMS satellites, 18w RMS centre, 26w RMS sub.

Creative T6100 5.1, £37 delivered
Pros: the front satellites include tweeters which I presume is better than not having them
Cons: no remote control, wired or otherwise
the centre speaker is on a stand and I have no ideal place to put it. In front of the monitor is no good and there is no shelf behind to put it on, so it would need to go to the side or behind the monitor.

Logitech X-540 5.1, £52 delivered
Pros: the centre speaker clips onto the top of most flat panel monitors apparently, which would be useful
includes a wired remote control

Cons: the speakers do not have tweeters unlike the T6100s

In this budget price bracket these seem to be the best two options - but which would you recommend? How much difference will the tweeters on the T6100s make because that is what it hinges on really.

Was looking at budget model 5.1 sets as well, so would be interested in opinions for this as I already have an x-fi fatal1ty fps :)

I originally bought my dolby digital setup for use with my NF2 board, but upgraded about a year ago so that is downstairs hooked upto the plasma. Since my headphones have broken, I'd like to have some decent sound over the very basic 2.1 setup I have now, but must be x-fi 5.1 compatible :)

Opinions on the above OP's sets please :)

I have the T6100s and they are god awful.

Though, I'm comparing them to some very nice headphones (Denon D2000). The bass completely overwhelms the sound, I had to EQ it out completely when I had to sub woofer connect. In the end it got so bad I stopped using all of the speakers except front left and right. I wouldn't recommend them for music at all.

There's only one pc speaker set worth having for music on pc and that's the Acoustic Energy Aego M.
I have the logitech z4 which is great value but I'd never consider it good for rock music it's great for dance as the midrange doesn't matter as much.
I listen to my music through headphones too the pc speakers are for basic use movies etc.

Have not heard either set referred to - moved from creative 5.1 P5800 to logitech a G51 and noticed a vast improvement in both games and music reproduction.

I thought well worth the extra £50 'ish

I got a set of X-540's and i love them. Only ever had crappy 2.1's to compare them too so take what i say with a pinch of salt :)

Also i don't think the creative one's have that "matrix mode" thing where you can turn 2 channel sound to 5 channel

don,t get the creative lab there a pain in the ass especially when it comes to
any problems, trying to get things sorted with CL is hard work.
My brother & I have G550W 5.1 £200 he has had problems with the woofer
then my set arrived, neither sub-woofers worked he has already RMA and has received a new sub-woofer which does not work so 3 sub-woofers are faulty
and we are still having problems with CL.

My T6100 sub broke also. It took 6 weeks to get a replacement. :/

I'm gutted, I got these supposed to be brilliant speakers and the only sound they make is ping and a 0.5 second light display. The crap CL came back with was insulting.
make sure there plunged into the power mains and so on.

I'm happy with my unused HT speakers, no need for a subwoofer..the Stryders in HL2 EP2 have awesome low thump but it's not OTT unlike my old FPS 2000 which just sounded boomy no matter the level.

Ignore that, as it means nothing. Detailed amplifier specs aren't provided, so it's a pointless spec.
