I have a reasonable mixture of old and new separates, Musical Fidelity 3B (Rack Mount case), 2xMusical Fidelity P180 power amplifiers running one amp per speaker, Musical Fidelity V90 balanced headphone amp, Sennheiser HD 660S headphones, SMSL DO100 Pro DAC, BK XLS2000DF subwoofer and Tannoy DC2000 speakers. I also have a Pink Triangle PT Too that needs some work, mainly sorting out fitting a Linn PSU, with Mission 774 Arm, good selection of MM and MC cartridges and a Michell Iso with Hera PSU.

Have done most of my listening on the HD 660S headphones recently and really enjoy the characteristics, despite getting on for nearly 60 years old, I can hear the difference with the filters on the DAC and have settled on the slightly brighter sounding FL6. Spent most of today heating up the room with the MF amps, took me a bit of tweaking the sub as the Tannoy's sounded a little muddy, almost there but not quite. Tidal is now my preferred steaming source, once I sampled it Spotify went the way of the dinosaurs, I also use CD, and some FLACs for playback.

Am looking for some speaker recommendations that have similar sound characteristics to the HD 660S cans, suggestions in the £300-£500 range, have no issues with buying secondhand equipment. Musical tastes are extremely varied, with anything from punk to opera and everything in between.

Not sure on sound characteristics to the headphones, but I do really like the Triangle speakers. I think even @mrk has a sexy expensive pair (out of the price range here though).

Do you have much space in the room for where the speakers are to be placed?

Hearing them would probably be the best thing. :)

Triangle BR03 - £399
For such a small room, my setup is seriously overpowered, have always been more about sound quality than volume. I have a large well-supported desk with the Tannoy's on it, using them as near fields probably isn't the best option, to get the right height with bookshelves I would need to factor in stands.
