Hi guys,

Does anyone who has changed their speakers in the integra DC2 know what sizes are in the back and front? Theres no real answer on itr-dc2 forum as some say its 5.5 and others 6.5 so I wondered if anyone whoes actually changed them know.

Cheers

Its neither :P

I had the same problem as you and I bought 6.5's - they only just about fit, with some modification. I ended up using a custom O-ring to base them on; you also have the issue that the standard speakers are fixed in place with 3 evenly spaced holes, most off the shelf items use 4, so the O-ring helps again.

HOWEVER! Bear in mind speaker depth before you buy them - otherwise the windows will catch on them in the fronts, and in the rear they're just very shallow mounts and the speaker magnet will hit the rear quarter panel.

Lastly, its an absolute b**** to do! The doors and rear panels are held with poppers that break very easily (cheap to buy from Honda, its just a pain). I managed to do mine without removing the front door covers (got them in/out through the speaker holes) and in the rear, I just removed enough poppers to bend the panel and feed the speakers through the back.

Have a look at this, it might help :) GL!

Thanks for the reply, looks like a bit of a pain to change them all over from what youve said. Maybe ill just try an uprated head unit and amp the speakers.

How did you make the custom O-ring just out of a piece of wood?? Sounds like that might be the way to go. Would a specialist ICE installer be able to do all this work if I decide its too much effort?

Cheers

Yeah you can measure them. I'm pretty sure they're something stupid like 16.5cm.

It is worth the hassle of changing the speakers, standard ones are pretty poor. I actually bought components for the front (had co-ax in the rear) but I didn't want to cut my door cards to locate the tweeters. You *can* find door cards off JDM ITR's that had tweeters holes/grilles from the factory, which is what many people do. Not cheap though I suspect, didn't get that far as I sold it shortly after I fitted the speakers.

Custom O-rings you can make from MDF. My new speakers actually came with some sponge O-rings and a metal adaptor ring, so I just made use of that.

ICE installers would do it no problem, not sure on cost though, not cheap but its the easy drive in/drive out option! :)

Took about 5 minutes, obviously it can be done better :p

9k? Which Integra have you driven lol:p

You need a decent stereo and speaker setup for the longer motorway trips.

The rev limit is the same on UK and JDM cars, can't see what you're saying about gearing as the ECU will set the limit. Most agree it's between 8.6-8.7K, remember the rev counter is inaccurate/lags.

Neil.

Maybe it's one of those ECU's that set the rev limit higher in 3rd only? I know they don't exist but hey.
