Ok first off, sorry if i put this in the wrong place, maybe they should have been in home theater section?

Anyway, i want to make some speaker stands for my z5500 sat speakers, i dont want to buy any speaker stands as i actually want to make somthing that will do a job for once.

What materials should i use? also is there a right and wrong way to build stands, cant i just cut say 3 pieces of wood for the legs and them sandwich them together inbetween some wood? or wont it matter what i do with the z5500 speakers as there small and kind of allready have a stand?

Anyway i found some door frames in the shed, there preety thick, i was thinking of sanding them into a better shake, then painting them black, and placing some square pieces of chipboard wood or somthing on the top and bottom, is that a stupid way of making a speaker stand?

I have the z-680s and the room that my pc is in, is ideal for the 5.1 speaker system. The room is small and square and im near enough sitting in the middle with all 5 speakers around me on shelfs I put up on the wall just above light switch hight, with the sub under my desk, and it sounds awwwwsome!.... The sub makes a great foot stool :D

Its a real shame that you cant tlit the speakers down, cos with them being on shelfs quite high. they face towards the celing.. It not too bad tho cos I have blocks of wood under the backs of the speaker stands causing the speakers to tilt forwards.

I cant mount mine on walls, i have tried, well my dad did, the material the wall is made out of makes it too hard to try tbh, the screws just go sidrwards once there in, that why i need to make speaker stands, you have any ideas?
