Speakers changing volume by themselves?

The volume on my creative inspire 5.1 speakers keeps going up and down on its own accord. Whats going on?

Ya know, I had the same problem with my old set of Inspire 5.1's. I never figured out why it did it.

I posted that before, but search is buggered.

Do you have Volume control like this:

If so, strip it down, dust it all out, then clean all electrical contacts with ISO PROPYLN CLEANER, let 100% dry (very important or it will act up), then put back together and wind Vol knob up and down a good few times, then reconnect, it wont happen again for a long time.

I had the same problem with my Creative Inspire P5800 speakers. I took the control module apart, dusted it out a bit, and after that it was fine.

Cheers for the help guys, i take it the volume control box just prises open?

EDIT: Just found the screws on the bottom.

I remember this problem back when I had my Inspire 6.1's over 3.5 years ago. The volume just did what it pleased. Creative sent me a new wired remote and all what fixed. Buy yeh, taking it apart and giving it a good clean may work.

ye it has worked, also my volume is once again loud and max, before it wasnt very loud at full but now it shakes the house
