Right, so I'm in need of some suggestions here. I moved into a new house and because of the fireplace, nice feature wall and general layout, i've mounted the the TV in the corner.

I have a problem, I have no idea where to put the 2 front L/R speakers (Wharfedale 9.1).

I'll get a better, more recent picture, but here's one from earlier.

Any ideas? As you can see, the centre is fine.

Hmm. Similar to many senerios I've seen. You'll be pushed to get a even surround sound from all but one seating spot. I just located my surround speakers as best I could but it never looked good. Better if you put your speaker's in the photo and we can see.

Wouldn't say i've the the best A/V setup but for my 5.1 system i've go a glass stand which fits in the corner so it's parallel with the tv screen. And the speakers are just to the left and right of the screen.

Corner positions adjacent to a large window are challenge. If you are wedded to the Diamonds then you have to think laterally because a conventional 5.1 layout just isn't going to work.

What I would suggest it turning the speakers on to their sides and laying them out below the TV to make a soundbar. The centre (if you have one) directly beneath the TV logo, then the left and right speakers flanking with the tweeters outermost. I would also suggest decoupling the speakers from the cabinet with some little rubber feet. You can get the self adhesive ones from Ebay. This will help prevent some of the speaker energy resonating in the cabinet on which they're sitting. The feet will also help to deal with angling the speakers with their rounded side walls.

Here's the idea in picture form:

If a change of speaker is an option then go for some small satellites and a really good sub. The small sat speakers will have to be pretty decent though because the Diamond 9.1s are a tough act to follow.

Ideally you need small satellite speakers or system as your trying to fit large speakers in a confined space. Shame. There appears to be no ideal space currently with your existing equipment.

Cheers guys, Yep, not an ideal situation I grant you.

Lucid, that was my first idea, however, there's not enough room to do it as the speakers are far to deep. I will try again, see if I can re-jig it.

Nope no good.

I think I'm going to go and get a long shelf to sit on top of the unit at the same angle as the TV, long enough to overhang. Then I can layout the speakers in a soundbar-like position. They will be stuck out in front of the TV by a few inches though.

I'd put the TV above the fireplace on the wall with a slight tilt down. It's not ideal but will male setting up the speakers simple. This is ofc assuming your couch is opposite.

Definitely not something that i would do, for the following reasons:

1. The TV would get hot from the fire.
2. TV will be too high
3. Would have the wreck up the place to chase cables
3. Feature wall would be wasted and have a load of holes in it.
4. We have a corner sofa, ideal for the current placement of the TV

I'm no expert, but would it be out of the question to have something like this

As long as you had some other ornamental pieces between the speakers and the TV you could easily hide the cabling

I'd accept the fact that your living room is to small for you AV system sell off the 9.1's and get the best sub sat package you can afford anything else is just going to look horrid and the sound will already be significantly compromised.

Get a tall + thin floorstanding speaker. Put on floor next to window / radiator as far left as possible. Set the balance 70% or higher on the left speaker...

That's what I did.

I then got another 2 speakers, wired them in parallel to the existing 2, and put another speaker even further left along the left wall (where your window is). Which gets the left side sound even better.

That was stereo system. You can only get a 'proper' surround with mini sattelite speakers. Wiring? --> under the carpet i would imagine is your best bet.

Well here's how i did mine in the end. Red blocks are speakers, green is sub and they all face the seat in the corner.

And also go a couple of cables ready to go behind the sofa for 7.1
