I know that generally pc speakers are bad, so I was wondering if using the logic 3 2.1 soundstaion 2, playstation 2 sound system would sound any better than the cheapo 2.1 speakers I have now? They got pretty good reviews and they sounded great connected to my friends ps2.

300 watts PMPO
Sub-woofer plus twin satellite speakers
Acoustical engineered cabinet
Volume and bass control

No experience with those, but they don't sound hi-fi to me.

To be honest, PC speakers are only "really bad" compared to hi-fi. And honestly? I don't think the good MM speakers are half bad.. In fact, many get good reviews and sound "great" in their own right. Just not next to hi-fi systems which are, by definition meant to be the top of speaker systems.

They are only £30 though, and the speakers I have atm are crap, my pdas headphones sound better, though O2 are known for bundling good headphones.

Really modern PC speakers sound pretty damn good to me and even when placed next to a Hi-Fi only a audiophile could tell the difference. Then again I do use X-Fi music and Creative G500's.

Might be helpful if you can compare them side by side. I doubt either would really outclass the other that much, seeing that those Logitech are not particularly high end.

I have the logitech Z2300 2.1's....man they blew me away when I first got them. Loud and powerful...and with an X-Fi card...extremely good sound! Only problem Ive got with them is waking the missus up when Im blasting up CSS at 2am in the morning :D

I'm pretty sure most people would be able to hear and appreciate the difference between hi-fi speakers/amp and PC speakers.

I have to agree, almost anyone can tell the difference...even my mum bless her was able to tell the difference between my hifi setup, and my logitech z's...and she has no concern with things of that nature whatsoever.

It would just be nice to get something decent for about £40, I was just thinking that these would be better than pc speakers for the amount of money.

Looking at those Soundstation 2 speakers, I suspect they may be below PC speaker quality actually. I mean £20 (I've just seen them for that) for 3 speakers and a built in amp doesn't promise high quality. The Soundstation T2 looks a little better, but it's still cheap plasticy rubbish by a company that as far as I can tell seems to make gamepads mostly.

Look for Logitech Z3, they're not too bad and I've seen them around £40-50. Acoustic Energy Aego M for £80 if you can afford a little more.

You can find a positive review of anything if you look hard enough. I've seen people say the built in speakers in their TFT monitor sound 'great'. Unless you know what other speakers someone has used, it's very risky to take peoples opinions at face value. Also people often say great and mean 'great for the price'.

They look like garbage to me. There's no way they're going to offer the same sound quality as something like the Aego Ms.

I have to say that a friend of mine is actually using one of these with his pc, and remarkable, against everything that does make sense...they dont actually sound too bad, watched a movie through them, listenened to some music pretty loud, and they didnt give way at all...and I mean the sound wasnt mindblowing, but it wasnt half bad either
