Hey guys

My brother has just got a PS3 now because of his TV he has to hvave the HDMI cable plugged into a HDMI-DVI adapter so it will plug into the TV. As you know DVI does not carry sound. So the next thing to try was having the sound come through the AV Sound cable (Red & White)... This neither works because of how the TV is setup.

So the next thing I tried was buying the PS3 digital audio cable, well what i thought was a Digital audio socket on the TV turned out not to be so that does'nt work neither.

The only option im left with is to buy some speakers, budget is £30-£40 for some either 2.0 or 2.1 speakers that will work with the PS3 by plugging the Digital Audio cable into the speakers from the PS3.

If there is any other way i could try to get working then please im all ears open. Thanks for the help in advance. Posted a link to the TV in question below.

On the side of the telly there's a 3.5mm jack socket labelled DVI Audio In. Connect the sound output from the PS3 into that and you're good to go. :)

As Deejay says use the input on the TV designed for audio from a PC. You will need a dual RCA socket to 3.5mm jack cable (don't know if PS3 comes with one), and you may need to check the audio options on the PS3, make sure it is set to analogue out.
You would probably get better sound from a seperate set of speakers, maybe the Logitech Z-4, or if you can stretch the budget a bit, the Acoustic Energy Aego. Both of these may still require the above cable.

To get speakers that use the digital connector will likely cost considerably more than your budget and won't be much better than using analogue.

Hmm ha da quick look on froogle the whole thing is starting to confuse me. I need an adapter that converts the PS3 audio optical cable to a 3.5mm DVI In socket?

Looked on the net can't find can someone point the in the right direction? Its getting annoying playing COD3 with no sound.

No you need a cable to convert the RCA plugs (red and white) to a 3.5mm jack (headphone type).

Put "rca socket to 3.5mm" into google and you'll find one.
