I currently have my speakers plugged in to the rear IO and I plug my headphones in to my case's front panel. When plugging/unplugging my headphones my speakers would always turn off/on but for some reason thats no longer happening.

I've tried re-installing the Realtek drivers but that didn't fix it so the only thing i can think off is that it's to do with me updating my motherboard's BIOS (Asus X99 A-II) but i'm at a loss as to how to fix it.

If anyone has come across and solved this problem i'd really like to hear how.

Thanks

Try Right Clicking the Speaker icon in the tray (Lower Right) and then go to Playback Devices and set your Headphones as the default whilst they're plugged in and then when you pull them out it should switch to the speakers.

When I do that my Headphones aren't even in the list even the Realtek software tells me i just plugged them in and they do work.

The picture below shows my settings (or lack of).

I dont know if it means anything but if you notice the Green jack port highlighted for the Rear IO but not for the front panel, this is despite the fact my headphones are connected and are working.

I'm wondering if there is a physical fault with either my front panel cable or the front panel connector on the motherboard.

This is really driving my crazy as I switch between headphones and speakers all the time :(

Click the cog in the top right, Playback device -> mute the rear output device, when a front headphone plugged in."

The image above is probably what it's on now?
