Currently got Cambridge Soundworkds Dtt2500 5.1 digital speakers running from my Audigy 2 ZS.

Great speakers but when i went to a mates today and heard his setup i felt like poo :( lol

My mate has a yamaha amp, 4 mission speakers on stands, an optimus centre speaker and Gale sub.

It sounded fantastic.

So it's lead me onto buy some new speakers for my computer etc...

I want proper speakers like mission etc...

I would like a 5.1 setup and don't want to spend the earth.

Ideally around £100 ish for a set of 2 speakers.

So £200 for all 4 etc...

I was looking at buying a Marantz SR4200 A/V Receiver from Matblack.

Any good, or is there better for a nice price?

Don't really want to spend over £100 to be honest.

Spec me some speakers and amp please guys :)

What about going second hand ?, you could pick up some Tannoy Mercury M1's or M2's and even a Mercury MC center if you looked on the auction sites.
Dont forget to budget for some cable and stands though.

As i suggested before id say try the MS302's
hte guy i bought mine off picked up the set 5.1
for £150 of an auction site ;)

If you want to go new try the Tannoy FX5.1

Just read this is for your computer!

I personally kept my system away from my computer, i just use a
stereo amp and a nice set of stand mounted speakers. All my
computer is used for is music, keep the Av stuff in the lounge ;)

I guess this is our thread :D

It is for my computer which is in my bedroom which is used for movies and xbox.

I watch at least 1 film a night, play xbox games and normal games every day, and when i'm not doing that, i'm listening to music, so it would get it's uses.

Speaker wire is no problems as my dad has stacks of the stuff.

Will look about on fleabay for a bit now.

jus so there isnt a domination of andy's :p

There is a Yamaha DSPA2 amp on the bay for £200 buy it now atm it was formerly a £1000 amp few years back, altho lacking a few new features it will be an awesome bit of kit

I have a Marantz SR4200.

It's great for movies and music. Yes a stereo amp would be better but as far as AV receivers go the marantz models are considered better for music. You won't be dissapointed with the SR4200. I paid £120 for mine, boxed, instructions and remote.

I have a pair of Mission M74 as front speakers. I was considering upgrading the receiver later in the year but to be honest I cannot fault mine. I think I may just add a decent sub in the summer.

I've just picked up a complete set of these meself, MS302's 5.1, from a mate for £130, all in original boxes too.
Sounds superb, highy recommended and theres a complete same setup up for grabs on that certain auction site with six days to go.

Is it the set up with the floorstands @ 350 BIN?

If not i can see any others

Andy

Go to, consumer electronics - all categories - then type in "Mordant short", they're right at the bottom of the page. Bit of a mistake there, its a nine day auction, not six.
Its the full 302/308 satellite, centre, sub set up.
Hope this post doesn't infringe any rules btw, if it does I'll remove it.
