Can you not be persuaded to overclock at all? It really is easy... 3ghz is a cinch.

The wavemaster uses 80mm fans, I wouldn't buy it now as it is out of date.

And overclock! You're wasting a lot of potential free performance if you don't :)
 
No idea how to overclock and i really dont want to be messing things up :( I like the look of the Coolmaster case. The Sonata II was ok but really fancy a chance!
 
Overclocking a c2d is easy enough. Just turn the bus up in the BIOS.

Swap the CPU for a cheaper one, change the ram to more expensive Crucial Ballistix then get a nice big fan and turn up the power.

You will get much more power for your money.

You can't really ask for an easy CPU to overclock.

Take a look at this spec as an example. The CPU there will clock to 3GHz easily with that cooler. The ram will go with it to 900/1000Mhz. Which is the equivilent of PC8000 ram which is double the price.

You could even go for the E6320 which is 1.86Mhz at stock and will also go to 3Ghz although it may be hotter under load. Nothing that fan cant handle.

I would consider your options here. overclocking that spec will beat the previous spec by a lot and costs...£35 more.

If you go for the E6320 its just about the same price.

Its up to you ofcourse but i would strongly recommend overclocking. Even a small amount will make it better than the previous non-overclocked system.

(IIRC That mobo is more overclockable than the P5N not sure on that though)

Jaffa can you pm me with your email msn....? Also, would i still be able to access my HDD now into windows xp to copy all my documents etc before i re-format?
 
Do you think i should stick to your specification or consider buying the items Rich D is selling.....?

£140 for E6600 + thermalright SI-128 and he will throw in a free case fan :D

Entirely up to you mate... a new 6600 and cooler will cost you £180-£190... so it just depends whether you want the comfort of buying new, or are willing to have used parts to save some cash. Some people mind and it others don't, only you can answer that really. :)
