Hello Gradually upgrading my system (See Sig)
I only have graphics, SSD (probably a 120gb OCZ Vertex 3) and Processor (Buying a FX-8150P on release) left to go.

However this thread is obviously about graphics.

I am open to ATI, Nvidia and SLI and Crossfire. I also have the capacity for almost anything.

Budget I'm aiming at is £300-500 but may well change or may well become more sensible.

I currently game at 1600x1050, but will probably upgrade monitors either to something higher res >1080p, something 120hz, an eyefinity style setup or combinations of these.

the more future proof the better, starting to save up for other things after this.

thanks in advance for any responses.

yeh I was just thinking that maybe I should continue to wait, the only thing is I havn't seen much about the next gen of graphics cards, other then some early claims of they will perform twice as well as the current gen, bit of a big claim I think that was AMD(ATI).

Those EVGA cards do look brilliant though, so very tempting.

the other thing I was possibly considering was maybe something pretty good but not too pricey like a 6950 and getting another one or two in the future.

as of the moment my graphics card is handling everything reasonably well, not always on the highest settings most of the time with low or no AA.

is there any indication of AMD radeon 7series or Nvidia 7 series release dates yet, I will save up more by then anyway.

Both of these will **** on any games you plan to play, just upgrade your monitor beforehand because these are overkill for your current resolution.

you replied as I was typing :) 6950 is something that I am seriously tempted by, specifically the other day when the MSI frozer III kept on being put on sale.

I think this will have to be me waiting to see what comes though.

also may have found somewhere that I can get a samsung 3x1 md230 setup for just over 1k that seems tempting, but probably wont go for.

at this point in time I am more likely to buy a 27'' IPS screen or a 22'/24'/27' 120hz screen.

If your current setup handles everything fine, then no point upgrading yet. The 28nm can quite easily give double the performance :)

They are due late this year/early next year.
