Hey all,

Coudl you guys spec my a 2k gaming rig, this is gonna be used for games mainly , and it needs to be excellent for games, i would like it to be a amd system with nivida sli gfx ,

oh , Would 2 x 7800 gtx 256 ddr be better than 1 x 7800 gtx 512 ddr ?

oh and it needs to be with a 19 inch tft monitor, keyboard and mouse.

which would be the better option to pick,

thanks all,

saboy

You can have 2 nvidia cards with sli mobo which is sli or 2 ati cards with crossfire mobo which is cross fire or have one card on anymobo

I know what they mean , im just not sure whats best for me to go for ,, wether I should get the 2405 is also another hard choice to make purely for gaming, some people say there is some ghosting, others dont, then somesay under 12ms refresh rate for gaming monitors, this machine is gonna be used purely for gaming.

The main things that are hard choices to make, are the gfx card/s, wether i should go with crossfire, or just one card on its own. in a non crossfire board.

help !! lol

Fair enough. I just remember reading through various reviews and threads about them, and finding a number of issues with stability etc. Maybe these have been ironed out with firmware/Bios/driver updates.
Personally I also wouldn't go anywhere near SLI/Crossfire at all, not just for the financial reasons I outlined above, but also because quite a few people seem to have issues setting it up. I'm sure when someone knows what they're doing then things are fine, but maybe it's not the right option for saboy. A simple machine with high quality parts would do nicely:).

Bigdom - how is the Asus? what's your max stable overclock?

so its not that sli/crossfire has problems its the problems that could arise from someone that doesnt know how to set it up correctly ?

well ive done a normal setup before, and would love to try a sli/crossfire system , atm im more interested in a crossfire system, but not sure to first get one really good card, then later on upgrade to a second one or get 2 identical ones.

Thanks everyone for all your replys, i am pretty set on the components, but ive been looking at monitors and reviews in the monitor section, and ive seen the phillips 20 inch widescreen one ? and was thinking about getting it rather than spending the 822 on the dell one, which i think is too much for a monitor for myself, how is the acer one that was specced above like in gaming, or should i go look in the monitor section ?

I dont really want to overclock, if it does come to it, i would only overclock in the far future or just buy a better cpu, ram , etc,.

Ive decieded to make a spec myself here it is, tell me what u think

I thought i would throw in a speaker system as well, but not sure if i should be getting another gfx card or not, tell me what you think

ahh , cool, i think i would rather get one of those, so the spec that i mentioned above, would anyone regard that as a excellent system ? or just basically fine ? Is the crossfire edition card that i mentioned in my spec excellnet, i do plan on going crossfire later one anyway.

have to agree with above posters, onboard sound should be good enough with standard speakers.

as for the HDD space, its easy enough to get another later if you need the space.

the X1900 crossfire edition master card is a top performing card :)

so yeah, thats a damn fine system spec allright. :D

Same here, I could add a sata hdd later on, they are cheap enough for sure.

Has anyone here got the motherboard in my spec ?? how is it, and what sound does it have, does it have at least 5.1 surround sound?

Question, which are master cards and which arent ?? Im new to ati cards, I only really know nividia stuff,

also , would i be better going with a X1900 XT-X rather than the x1900 crossfire edition ?? it says that its the faster card

and its cheaper, than the crossfire edition one
