Spec a £500 upgrade

Hey, my mates looking to upgrade and has £300+ to spend on:

CPU (AMD 64 please) CPU Fan needed? OEM?
GPU (What evers the best for the price)
MotherBoard (Corssfire or SLI depending on what GPU)
1GB pc3200 ram 1 stick please

...and after hes saved some more he would like to get a case and PSU but which PSU?

it will be used for games and the web.

to be honest, you'd be better off not bothering with an SLi based board and save the cash to get a better graphics card, maybe an x800XL or something?

Well hes got something like a 2200xp and a ATI 9600pro and 512ram...

He's made a list of

3500 venice OEM £100
ATI X1800XT 256 £170
Abit AT8-32X ATI RD580 Crossfire £117

So lets say you had £500 what can you do with that...only need cpu, mobo, gfx, ram and a HSF.

i've gone for the 3700+ as its the same stock speed, but the extra L2 cache will help it out perform the 3500+... the recent batch of 3700+'s have been clocking well over the past few months.
