My freind is looking for an upgrade and wanted a little help with what to get.

He's looking around 600 pound, and he needs

CPU (and cooling)
Mobo
Ram
GPU
Disk Drive (DVD/RW)
Hard Drive 150gig plus
Case (with cooling optional)
Power Supply.

I suggested going for a

Duo core 4300 with Freezer 7
650i Sli Asus Mobo
2gig giel 6400 ram
ATI x1950
Corsair 520W HK.

So give us you veiws and help guys, any help is welcome and appreciated.

Jonny

Looks good, but if he is looking to take some of that down to include a case what would you suggest, take the processor down to the 4300? cooling down to freezer 7?

Thanks for the help guys

As mentioned you could go for a cheaper heatsink as an Arctic Freezer 7 pretty much halfs the cost of the cooler.

If your friend also wants a case then I'd suggest something like the Antec Sonata II which is about the same price as the Corsair HX 520w but it already comes with a decent PSU or the Antec NSK6500 which again comes with a decent PSU. :)

This is what i came up with:

Antec NSK6500 ATX Super Mid Towe Hi-Efficiency 430W ATX12v v2.0 PSU
Asus P5N-E SLI NF650i SLi
2Gb (2X1Gb) Corsair TwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC5400 CAS 4-4-4-12
Intel Core 2 Duo E6320 1.86 GHz, 4MB Cache, Retail
256MB Sapphire Radeon X1950Pro
250 Gb Seagate 7200.10
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
Pioneer DVR-112 18x DVD±R etc.

Total inc. VAT and postage £506.89.

Sorry can't put individual prices as they are not from here. You immediatley have a not out of date CPU also :)

As you see this leaves £90 to play with on maybe the case, graphics or maybe even the 6420 CPU.
