Need some help if you lot dont mind

My old man crashed his car today, 90% sure it will get written off as there is a massive dent on the sill on the drivers side, the whole front end needs to be replaced etc.

He is thinking of spending up to £5K on a new one. He had a Fiat Stilo then a Fiat Putno sporting.

He did suggest a Mondeo but I think that is a bit big in all fairness. Travel wise he does about 100 miles a day up and down the A1 on his commute, so maybe a diesel.

Also needs to be able to fit 2 sets of golf clubs and maybe trolley in the boot.

So what suggestions would people have?

Thanks

Kimbie

Your dad has the right idea a diesel mondeo would be ideal. Spending 100 miles a day in the mondeo would be far comfier than a hatchback.

lol and other choices over than a mondeo?

Theres the focus of course :D haha.

If I was doing a 100 mile commute, or just 100 miles a day in general i'd rather have a bigger car, Focus size would be the smallest I'd look really. Leon's aren't bad, Golf's. For the amount of money he has, and the amount of miles he does, a Mondeo really is one of the best choices to be honest.

For £5k ...Jaguar X-Type :) ...the estate even. Or a Mondeo, Mondeo or a Mondeo would work, there are some cracking bargains to be had on Jeep Grand Cherokee's now too, you'll get a lot of metal there for £5k, infact you don't need to spend £5k on one, say £4k or straight upto £10k for the newest shape ..the bit in the middle is rather a dead zone. I wouldn't suggest a Jeep though if you are at all interested in economy.

There is more enjoyment to be bad from gouging your testicles out of their mountings with a rusty spoon than buying, owning and driving an Avensis.

My dad owns a 2003 Toyota Avensis 2.2 D4d and i must say its amazingly dull, so dull you could fall asleep at the wheel :o

My escort is more fun to drive and is just as fast (accleration wise)
