spec a card for 1440x900 gaming

ok guys what card would you get for gaming at this res? want to max things out on games i was wondering if an 3870x2 would be overkill?

8800GT would be fine and yes the 3870X2 probably would be overkill, SLI and Crossfire are really only for high resolutions or lots of AA.

Cheaper yes, but not better, theres an average 15% performance difference in favor of the 8800GT, plus the GT is single slot and overclocks like a mofo.

An 8800gt is the better card but the 3870 is good for its price and performance as well, its entirely up to you...btw is this for another pc as I notice you have a Gtx atm.

no high end card is a overkill, it'll just last you a lot longer

very true only now am i looking at changing my x800xt and im only doing that this soon as the fan has stopped working else i would be waiting till next month..

Depends on the res in most cases, the GT / 512 GTS give the GTX a good run for it's money at 1680x1050 and below, even with AA.

i only want a card that will see me through till the r700 etal comes out , the main game i play is bf2 so if you can spec me a card that will play that i will be happy dont want to spend a fortune if my kyro2 card still fitted into the pci slot i would have used that lol
