I need to buy a phone for someone's birthday and they say it must have a "good camera".

I initially was looking at the Nokia E52 but since this requirement came up I don't think it's the best option now. So, what's the best cameraphone for around £230?

Nokia 6220 is probably your best bet, although it's not the best all-round phone in the price range. The main thing that distinguishes it is that it has a proper flash, so it takes excellent night shots.

The N82 would be even better, but it has been discontinued, so you might have a hard time finding it. Definitely on the bay under £200.

If night-time photography is unimportant, then any of Nokia's 5mp cameraphones should do the trick.

yeah sony over here, some other manufactures seem good as well, like topper end LG but I find them girly

i heard the C sonys have problems with freezing, crashing, and turning off, I would get W995 it has a awsome cam but its not cyber shot :( also I would take a look a few nokias

it depends what else you want the phone to have and how much you want to pay, and if you want to go on paygo, the C905 would be like £380 if you have insurance on it as well

I've constantly heard good things about the N82 and it's ability to take pictures in poor light.

Thee trick is that it has a xenon flash - however getting one in a camera phone is difficult since these days people seemingly "want" slimmer handsets. It needs a chunky capacitator to run, often far wider than the phone so very few, if any phones have one inside.

I have had a C902 and it was rubbish. I have seen a C905 take good photos though. My K850i is hit and miss (I still have no idea why). The best phone I have had for photos by far was the K800i. It never missed a beat in any conditions.

The N82 seems to be quite popular then. For the same price would anyone rate the 6720? 5MP camera without the Xenon flash (but with dual LEDs) but it's newer and looks a bit better than the N82 with its small odd looking buttons.

I would deffo go with a Xenon flash the dual led's just can't match it and you will see it in the pictures as well.

It's a shame they don't make the N82 anymore, it's been around for ages now and I haven't seen any phone yet which has a better cam & flash.

Im after a c902 and reviews are not helping me at all. 50/50 really. People are saying good camera but rubbish light. Also software is rubbish but its battery life is awesome. So I think that I should get the 1 Ive seen for 1/2 price and just think its better than my failing K750i

i have the 6220 classic with the same camera and flash as the n82. amazing picture quality with the flash. just a shame it feels like a plastic toy

the c902 would be good if it had xenon :(

the c905 is the only 'new' sony one with a the proper flash and is what id recommend
