Hi All,

my dad has decided he wants to get back into the swing of gaming, as hes seen me playing a few games and is now addicted again (ahh old times lol)
looking to get a new box sorted out, but only really have a budget of £200-£250max

dont need a monitor or OS. nor any other peripherals, just need the box.
want it to run some oldish games smoothly, i.e World Of Warcraft, C&C generals, Company Of Hero's (if possible!) as this + net browsing will be its main uses.

best i could come up with is still over budget by £10 :(.

but heres something to give you an idea, would really prefer a better cpu/gfx card for WOW to run smooth but doesnt go into the budget.

had a rummage, got on ollllld desktop case, and a fairly small tower. both with PSU's not sure how good they are didnt get chance too look

have a look at them, check the psu's are see what sort of details are on them, would be nice to use them if possible but no point chancing new hardware on a dodgy psu.

will do when i get home tonight, thanks for the info so far guys :) much appreciated! if theres any other suggestions let me know :)

found this for £20.... would this run WoW and games similar...

Intel Celeron 2.66GHz Processor
- 1024MB DDR II 667Mhz RAM
- 160GB SATA II Hard Disk Drive
- 18 x DVD-Rw Multi-burner Drive
- Intel 945GC Motherboard
- Integrated Intel GMA 950 Graphics
- Realtek ALC888 7.1 Channel Sound
- 32-in-1 Card Reader
- 6 x USB 2.0 Ports
- 10/100/1000 Mb/s Ethernet/LAN
- 350W Power Supply
- Multimedia Keyboard
- Optical Mouse
- Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium

i know some parts on there arent needed, but its a bundle on offer... opinions?

My question : why the intel obsession ? Note the spec I made will eat the Celeron dual alive, not to mention twice the hard drive space & a far supirior graphics card.
Of couse, one could mix & match the parts, if gaming is of no consequence, then the 2400 as recommended by mp260767 is a good recommendation.
Likewise, I agree with him on the case & PSU ; there is no way you can get a reliable quality either for less.
For what it's worth, this mobo is also compatable with phenom quad core.

i agree intel is best for a cheap spec, i'm current running

6800GT
Asus a8n-sli
AMD 3500+
1GB OcUK value

I can run wow, css, cod4 etc. on a spec worse than the one stated above, go for it.
