I want to upgrade my computer, I do a lot of multi tasking, graphics design and usually have a lot of software open. I don't really play many games, but I do like to fire something up now and again, mainly strategy based or the odd mmporg/rpg

I would like to keep my antec 300 case and graphics card which i will be upgrading in the next few months, so I am looking for. New motherboard, CPU, ram and a solid state drive.

I don't really want to spend anymore than 400 but I would consider upping that to 500 if it was going to make a huge difference. I plan on keeping this computer another 3 or 4 years, what would my best option be? I would also like to note that I would like to upgrade to three monitors in the near future, do I need sli for this or are there single graphics cards available that can run 3 or 4 monitors these days?

Thanks

try a bundle, less time fiddling, more time working or playing, i did and havent looked back, with that budget will get a good one easy.

will post a few

£394.98 inc VAT

then all you need is a sdd

or

£323.98 inc VAT with less ram and a bit slower overclock so more money on the sdd's

vga answer would be depenadant on monitor sizes and screen res needed, plus a good card as well and a newer psu

Would I need a cpu cooler with the spec above though?

Yes, especially if you plan to OC.

If don`t mind going over £400, I would suggest going for this bundle, as already suggested and add the Samsung ssd I specced. This will work out cheaper than adding a cooler to my spec.
