Spec a PDA for my mate

How about one of those small EEPC's?

Can't be much more than a PDA and I would image a lot more useful. Granted, not quite as small as a PDA but I would imagine a better option.

You might as well get a phone with a pda as then you'll have to carry one thing less

Palm Treo 750v, don't be fooled by the small keyboard, it's quite comfortable to use. Make sure to upgrade to WM6 though.

i have an htc tytn II - v. expensive sim free (but £free on contract), but has all the bells and whistles

3.75G, gps, bluetooth, wifi, qwerty keyboard etc etc.

X51v is still preety decent spec. as above has no phone features
i use mine a lot but i agree the pda on its own is preety much dead now.

There is still quite a big scene for the PPC, I've just put WM 6.1 on my x51v and it runs like a dream

I do think the next big thing will be UMPC's like the EEE. these things are just gonna get better and better especially when the likes of Dell release there's so you might want to take a look at those.
