Spec a sound production rig - Whats Important

Hi, I have a friend that looks at a new computer for creating music. He uses all the typical sound production stuff like Q-Bass etc.

I was thinking, OCUK value 24" and some decent hardrives. Perhaps a VelociRaptor + 2 X F1 1TBs in RAID 0. Maybe an asus sonar? Is there any other computers that are critical that i am missing?

Note, he has all the high end speakers, amp etc ...

Unfortunately 32mb is far to small for a standard Vista OS drive.

Any other parts / crucial points within a sound production rig that i should be thinking about?

Macs are over priced.

How much ram are we talking about? 8GB?
