Spec a Soundcard plz

I need a Soundcard with an Optical (or Toslink) Input (for connecting my console) I currently have the Creative Soundblaster Z but Im not happy with the sound & have ran into some problems with it (I always seem to have problems with Creative products, maybe im just cursed with them lol) I cant seem to find a good selection of cards, can someone reccomend a card for me?
 
I think the only other sound card with optical input is Xonar D2X. Doesn't have the standard toslink connections, but uses mini toslink. An adaptor is included so a standard toslink cable can be used, or you could just use a mini toslink to toslink cable.
 
thanks for posting Marsman, when I decided to give up on Creative Sound naturally I wonderd into the Asus camp ;P but didnt notice this card (I was so focused on finding one with Optical that I didnt notice the mini input) couldnt find much vidoes on that card but the reviews I did come across sounded good, the only other cards Ive been able to find are the HT Omega cards but they seem harder to find in the UK & the reviews are very mixed
 
Asus Xonar STX is a nice card... or even better would be an external DAC like the NAD D1050

I have been through quite a lot of sound cards and DAC's and the D1050 is my favorite.
 
Thanks for posting NirK, from what I can tell the Xonar STX only has Optical Out, the DAC's are a nice idea (but I wasnt really planning to spend more than £150, unless it was really worth it :p ) never had or even looked into DAC's before
 
I think Nirk has probably not realised that you're looking for a card with optical input. The Essence cards have only optical output.
